Contraception
Advice centresWhat does contraception mean?
-
You should think about contraception if you don’t want to get pregnant.
Why is contraception important in my profession?
-
You should think carefully about contraception because you have lots of different sexual partners.
Often they are strangers you don’t know and may never see again.
This makes it more difficult to bear the consequences of pregnancy together.
What contraceptives are there?
-
There are many ways to prevent pregnancy.
They can generally be classified into hormonal and non-hormonal methods. -
In addition to one of these methods, you should always use a condom because it protects you twice over:
-
On the one hand, it will give you very high level of protection against an unwanted pregnancy and on the other hand, it will protect you against sexually transmitted infections.
Which contraceptive method is right for me?
-
The many different contraceptives are not equally suitable for every person.
-
The choice of contraceptive is very individual. It depends on many different factors: e.g. your age, your life situation, your personal preferences and habits are important.
You should also consider whether you want a long-term or short-term solution, whether you want to think about contraception every day or not, and of course how much money you want to or can spend on contraception. -
You can find helpful overviews of the effects, advantages and disadvantages of the individual contraceptive methods on the Internet. For example:
